Blockchain Futurist Conference 2026

Jul 20, 2026 – Jul 23, 2026 · 4 days

Thanks to the generous support of community donations, the Bitcoin Cash community maintained a presence at the two-day Blockchain Futurist Conference in Toronto. Throughout the event and into the evenings, our team focused on introducing attendees to Bitcoin Cash, demonstrating the current state of the ecosystem, networking with developers and businesses, and building relationships that can lead to future opportunities.

The booth was setup the day before the conference by Jerry Qian , so special shout out to him for that! The booth tablecloth and backdrop are now with John Moriarty and can be requested to be used at other events, and the roll-up banner is with 00TAT$ who is already using it at new events.

Community Outreach The booth remained active throughout both days, with team members speaking to attendees almost continuously. During quieter periods, one team member would walk the conference floor, their Bitcoin Cash jersey attracting attention and encouraging conversations.

The booth’s Bitcoin Cash roll-up banner somehow made its way into a VIP booth near the main stage early in the first day of the conference, and provided excellent visibility throughout the event and likely appeared in numerous attendee photos and videos.

00TATT$ provided custom tattoos during the conference, seven total, including two Bitcoin Cash tattoos. This generated considerable attention and even resulted in an open invitation to set up a Bitcoin Cash tattoo booth at Rebel Night Club in Toronto for future events.

What We Learned One of the strongest themes throughout the conference was that awareness of Bitcoin Cash remains very low outside of the existing BCH community.

Most attendees: • Had little or no knowledge of Bitcoin Cash. • Often assumed Bitcoin Cash was a payment application built on BTC. • Frequently believed there was a “Bitcoin Cash company” behind the project. • Were unaware of the history of the Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash split.

Among attendees who were familiar with Bitcoin Cash, knowledge generally stopped at the original fork. Very few knew about the progress made since then, including CashTokens, smart contracts, DeFi applications, and other ecosystem developments.

This demonstrated that education continues to be one of the highest-value activities for conference outreach.

Demonstrating the Technology Rather than relying on theory alone, many discussions centered around live demonstrations of Bitcoin Cash applications.

These demonstrations helped shift conversations away from outdated perceptions and toward the current capabilities of the network.

Only two attendees expressed strongly negative opinions toward Bitcoin Cash. In one case, a discussion comparing BCH with Solana eventually led to the attendee installing Selene wallet, receiving BCH, and seeing that funds were immediately available to spend. While opinions may not have completely changed, the discussion ended on a much more positive note and highlighted the importance of demonstrating real-world functionality.

People Reached Meaningful interactions at the booth (defined as conversations lasting approximately five minutes or longer) were only partially tracked by Kyle, primarily during the first day of the conference. Even this incomplete record represents dozens of substantial conversations.

Recorded first-day interactions included: • 14 developers • 5 students • 4 investors • 4 educators • 3 finance professionals

Notable Outcomes Several particularly encouraging opportunities emerged during the conference.

New CashScript Developer A developer named Arya (Telegram @Aryadea) expressed interest in building with CashScript and committed to experimenting with BCH smart contracts. He has kept in touch and has started active development work.

BCH Investment We ran into a booth visitor later at an evening event, and they shared that they had purchased 50 BCH the night after speaking with the team. They then started introducing “The Cashies” to numerous contacts throughout the evening.

Toronto Hackathon Opportunity Discussions with a Solana developer who organizes hackathons in Toronto produced a potential opportunity to include Bitcoin Cash in future hackathons.

They indicated BCH would be welcomed provided the community can supply: • BCH mentors and judges • Technical support • Potential investors interested in reviewing projects after the event • Funding for the Bitcoin Cash portion of the hackathon

Smart Contract Auditing Representatives from multiple blockchain security companies approached the booth offering smart contract auditing services.

None of the representatives could verify that they offered UTXO auditing services (later research seemed to verify that they do not). We verified to them that multiple projects had approached us for auditing in the BCH ecosystem, so potential customers did exist in the BCH space.

Future Conference Opportunity Brady Walsh liked the booth and offered Bitcoin Cash one of the remaining booth locations at their November 2–5 conference in Rome without the normal booth fee as long as one is still free, an estimated value of €10,000+.

While booth construction costs would be significant and would still need to be covered, the offer would also include 20 complimentary conference passes.

AIBC is one of the larger international technology conferences, attracting roughly: • 30,000 attendees • 1,000+ exhibitors • 300+ speakers • Participants from approximately 150 countries

This represents a potentially valuable opportunity for future BCH outreach.

Media and Additional Opportunities Additional opportunities generated during the conference included: • An interview with John by the DefiMedia1 channel. • Discussions with a documentary producer working on the story of the well-known lost garbage dump 8,000 BTC/BCH hard drive, who wants the • Bitcoin Cash community to provide their perspective on BTC vs BCH at the end of the documentary. • Requests from developer educators for additional information about CashTokens and BCH smart contracts, which was provided. • Numerous follow-up conversations around proof-of-concept projects showcasing BCH covenant capabilities. • Connections with organizations exploring institutional stablecoin applications.

Presentations and Technical Discussions Beyond the conference booth, Jerry remained active throughout Toronto blockchain events during the week.

Activities included: • Organizing CryptoMondays Toronto the night before the conference. • Presenting on BCH covenants and introspection at the conference. • Speaking at the Bitcoin++ conference on covenant technology. • Technical discussions regarding Layer 2 systems, drivechains, token systems, and covenant-enabled applications with prominent members of the broader blockchain ecosystem.

These discussions helped increase awareness of current Bitcoin Cash development among technically focused audiences.

Overall Assessment The conference demonstrated that Bitcoin Cash continues to face a significant awareness challenge outside of its own community. However, it also showed that once attendees see modern BCH applications in action, conversations become substantially more positive and productive.

The event generated: • New developer interest. • New business and institutional contacts. • Future hackathon possibilities. • International conference opportunities. • Media opportunities. • Increased visibility through continuous booth activity and networking.

Most importantly, the conference reinforced that in-person outreach remains one of the most effective ways to educate people about the progress Bitcoin Cash has made since the original fork.

FundMe Donators Thank you to all the FundMe campaign donators who made this outreach possible. Community support enabled the team to represent Bitcoin Cash to hundreds of attendees, build valuable new relationships, and create opportunities that can continue benefiting the ecosystem well beyond the conference itself.

This includes Steve Thurmond who covered significant additional costs, including the booth materials themselves, and provided funded cashstamps which were given out to attendees.

And a special thank you to Kenn Bosak who had the contacts to get us a free booth space to begin with, which only happened because he and Kyle met at BLISS 2026!

And a final thank you to the team that came together and volunteered their time to spread the message that Bitcoin Cash is a force to be reckoned with!

After Party

After the second day of the conference, after many hours of standing and talking to people, John and I found ourselves in the hotel room collapsed on our beds. We hummed and hawed about going to an after party - maybe there could be an investment opportunity for my projects, or some sort of networking opportunity could happen, who knows? But there was a problem - the beds were so soft and comfortable.

In the end I dragged us both out, jumping on some rental bikes and making our way back into downtown Toronto. I had selected an after party that was linked off the Futurist conference page and had a large amount of sign ups, but when we got to the building entrance a woman turned us away. "There's no event here, sorry, I've been turning a bunch of people away." It turned out that a number of the listed Futurist after-party events were fake - scams trying to get people to connect their EVM wallets (e.g. Metamask) to a wallet-draining app.

Thinking that this was typical and we should have stayed in our comfy beds we started walking in a general direction back towards our hotel. Some phone searching found us another after-party event that we would pass by, so we decided to take a look. And this one was real! A basement bar with a good ~75 people networking, chatting about crypto, and related topics. And we stood out like neon-blinking billboards with our BCH jerseys. We talked with a Solana dev about UTXO vs EVM models and local hackathons, and he seemed intrigued. A notable interaction for me was a young woman who lead by saying she owned a local gym ... oh, and a software development project that's using AI to do retail food nutrition analyses for a contract with the United Nations. 🤯

After an hour or so a person who visited our BCH booth at the conference invited us up to the top floor club. At this point the other two BCH conference team members had also found their way here, and we were being introduced to people as "the Cashies". The event continued into the night and turned into a big party/dance environment after filling up, with side conversations happening everywhere. I lost track of John and Jerry at some point and decided to dip out back to the hotel with 00Tats after midnight, since my flight left at 4am. A tech-topics influencer decided to join us and we stopped for some shawarma- she insisted on treating me since it had actually just become my birthday - thanks again Abigale!
